Entry Requirements in Training and Education: 

Five years of study beyond high school are required to graduate from a degree program accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education. A bachelor ofscience or a bachelor of pharmacy degree is granted. Six or seven years are required for a doctor of pharmacy degree. Although a few colleges admit pharmacy students directly from high school, most require one or two years of prepharmacy education at the college level, emphasizing mathematics and science. The required license to practice pharmacy may be obtained by graduating from an accredited degree program, passing a state board examination, and serving an internship under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
