How to Lose Weight like a Man?

Why is it that men seem to find weight loss so much easier than women? Most men can stick to a calorie-controlled diet without giving into the temptation of chocolate and sweets, whereas for the majority of women it is a constant battle to avoid them. Of course, it helps that men can generally get away with consuming more calories than women when they’re following a weight-loss plan and so they can fill their plates with more food and not worry whether they’ve eaten too many snacks.

Clearly, not all men find weight loss and weight management easy, which is why obesity rates amongst men are on the increase so that men are catching up to women in the obesity stakes. However, when it comes to losing weight men seem to have it a lot easier than women. For the average man to maintain his weight he should consume 2,500 calories a day, whereas a woman can only consume 2,000 calories. In order to lose weight this figure has to be reduced by approximately 500 calories, so that men can live on 2,000 calories and women 1,500.

Men are generally taller than women and their physical composition is different, which enables men to consume more calories than women even when they’re losing weight. Men don’t seem to have as much difficulty avoiding treats as women, which is perhaps to do with hormones and emotions. Women are more likely to be influenced by their emotions and to use food as a source of comfort, which men tend not to do. Plus, there are women who claim that near their ‘time of the month’ they crave chocolate and find these cravings impossible to resist.

As well as being able to follow a calorie-controlled diet, men seem to have less difficulty finding the motivation to exercise. Often, women will look for any excuse to get out of doing exercise, whereas men will just get on with it. Men don’t seem to be quite as bothered about what they look like when they workout and so will go for a run or hit the gym without worrying that everyone is going to stare at them. Men are able to envisage the muscular physique they will have in future, whereas women tend to be preoccupied with becoming skinny and fitting into smaller clothes.

Women might be able to learn a thing or two from men when it comes to weight loss, but whether a person is male or female they still have to count calories and do more exercise to lose weight.
