Why does dieting not work for some people?
Diets do not work. If they did, companies like Jenny Craig would go out of business. What they have done is taken away your ability to choose, whether your choice is good or bad.
Stop dieting! Ask yourself this: do you eat mindlessly or mindfully? Do you prepare foods that are pleasant to look at, colourful, tasty and have texture and taste?
Here is an experiment: Get a small chocolate ball. Put it into your mouth and just hold it there. Slowly roll it around your mouth, enjoying the texture of the chocolate. If there is an filling, allow that to lay on your tongue, taste it and finally finish the chocolate.
That is mindful eating. You are aware of what is in your mouth, you enjoy it and actually taste it.
Mindless eating is chomping on a handful of those chocolates, not tasting a one. They merely fill the hole.
Exercise............even if it is walking from one desk to another rather than emailing a coworker. Movement in any form is necessary.
Of course we know that if you decrease the caloric intake required to function properly throughout our busy days we will lose weight.
Naturally, if we continue with the same caloric intake and yet exercise more, we can also have a zero balance at the end of the day.
What is zero balance? Quite simply the balance left after calories go in and energy is expending. Keep a zero balance and you neither gain nor lose weight.
A negative balance means you will lose weight.
A postive balance means you will gain weight.
Sounds wonderful doesn't it? Our bodies are tricky though. It will figure out what is going on and adjust accordingly and really, how accurately can one determine intake and output? Getting into those numbers will most certainly bring about BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder).
Are you seeing your doctor and dentist regularly?
You do need to ensure that you have an annual checkup to ensure any health issues are caught early and your doctor can work with you to deal with whatever comes up.
Your dentist is also vitally important. Gum disease can creep up on a person and cause tremendous illness.
Remember, you have the power to make choices and if you wish to make choices about your body that are not healthy, you will eventually end up with a very unhealthy body.
Alternatively, if you live a full life and eat for energy and to fuel the machine properly, you have a very good chance of living not only that full life, but a long one as well.
Finally........Knowledge is Power. Do not fear what you do not know. Investigate, learn and make your own decisions.
It's your body, treat it well.
