Self Perception and Weight
OK, lets start out with the basics shall we?! I'm big. Over-weight for my age. I'm only 15. My mother constantly tells me this. Even my doctor. And since then, I've hated all cameras and anything else. I remember, it was just recently, 5 months ago. I weighed what I weigh now. I wore huge clothing. I tried to hide myself in my clothes, and my hair...was a mess. I was something alright. But what I was, was a mystery back then. Everyone sees them self as what they first think when they look in the mirror. I remember looking in the mirror and saying, "Oh lord....you could set a refrigerator on that!"
I felt bad. I felt bad all the time. But I learned that all it takes is a little inspiration to get the ball going. A friend, an enemy, a teacher, or your own parents, it doesn't matter. A friend of mines, Kelsey, came to school one day. Now this girl was as big as me...and came to school. She had lost twenty-two pounds in a month. And I admit...I hated her for it.
But it changed me.
Sometimes, if you like the way you are, you don't worry about how much you eat, you worry about how you present yourself. Wearing big baggy clothing isn't quite right.
I shed my huge sweaters and found a look uniquely me. I got my hair cut, ears pierced, and i haven't lost a pound. I now love the camera. Just by looking in the mirror and telling myself, "I'm me, and no body else" Its as simple as that.
And now you're all thinking, "Well hey, how is this suppose to help me?"
Its suppose to give you an inspiration. Don't let people yell at you. You need to stand up and declare a national change day. Prepare to go shopping and spend alot of money. Splurge on yourself. If you can't find a look you like.
Well then..
Create a look. Don't let what other people say about you affect you in anyway. Just because I am fat doesn't mean I can't be pretty! And the same goes for you. Just hop up, grab your keys and your money and how about have a shopping spree at the mall with some friends.
A few words of advice for those who are preparing as I type.
1) A really good shopping place for us big girls:: Layne Bryant.
2) Now to pull off the look, add necklaces from New York and Company. Bling yourself up and out.
3) Now its all you. What is your favorite thing. Shades? Necklaces? Bracelets? Rings? Let yourself go.
It doesn't matter what you look like or your weight. Did God not create us all in the image of him?
It is a psychological thing. If your mind has a preset that you're unattractive, its going to stay that way. So from now own, we're changing that preset. Screwing it up, throwing it way and creating a new one.
This one's called, "I'm big, sexy, and I know how to work it"
Just keep this in mind, it'll keep you smiling all day but gives you the confidence you need to keep going in this world.
Love yourself, and others will love your ability to love yourself and will love you in return.
So I do hope this article meant something to you all.
