Robotics engineers design, develop, and test mechanical devices that are controlled by computers. They design these robots, especially those used in manufacturing, so that they can be reprogrammed to perform more than one type of job. This versatility makes it possible to use the same robot to produce a variety of different products. 

Employment Prospects: 

Employment, while still relatively small, is expected to grow faster than the average rate for occupations through the 2020s. Much of this growth, however, will depend on whether or not the anticipated sharp increase in number of robots used in manufacturing actually materializes.
